Do you mean you go to your server, phpldapadmin/ and you can see the tree, including the names?The only one of these I've ever set up is with OS X. Mail preferences, ldap server, ... [by scottro]

I'm trying to configure OpenLDAP on Ubuntu using the the Ubuntu server guide. I have enabled Start TLS with a certificate generated using my own CA certificate (since it is for internal use). I enforced Start TLS on the database using olcSecurity (set to tls=1).
I have a big performance problem with a mail server using dovecot and
authenticating users via ldap.
The architecture of the machine is a local ldap and mysql server, they are
used by dovecot for authenticating the mail users.
If i use pam_sss the mail server has about 1/8 - 1/10 the performances it
has if i use the pam_ldap.

We have a mail server which has Zimbra installed on it and a file server. Folks use the same login information they use to access their email to access the file server. So the file server is using the same LDAP server as the mail server.
Couple days ago, at around 12 PM all of the sudden, the SSH connection to the mail server failed. The mail server itself was up and running just fine.
I want to setup an ldap server that will hold an addressbook of users their emails their smime certificates.
I want to use this ldap server as an addressbook in thunderbird and/or other mail clients but thunderbird is preferred.
I would like to be able to import contacts from this addressbook(one or all) including their s/mime certs so that i can email any and/or all of them securely .
i have set up DNS and SAMBA PDC along with ldap....its working fine..For Ldap administration i have decided to use phpldapadmin...i have setup phpldapadmin.But i am not able to add samba users using phpldapadmin...its sayign as object class violation....i am sure my template_config.php is configured wrongly....i wiould like to know the configuration for template_config.php and config.php.....
I am trying to set up an LDAP environment on my Debian Wheezy server.
I want to secure the communication with the server using a valid SSL certificate (meaning, it is not self signed).
I am using a self compiled version of OpenLDAP because the latest version in the Debian repository does not support SHA2 password hashes.
