I know this has been asked here before, but none of the solutions have worked for me. I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 on my system and I installed Open Java 7 and I downloaded Minecraft. I right clicked Minecraft went to properties and set it as an executable and then went to open with and Java is no where to be found in the list.
I'm pretty new to Lubuntu and I am completely lost with Java... I've already got a server running. Now all I'm trying to do is start Minecraft but EVERY tut has told me to change permissions (done) and run with Java 7 Runtime.
Before starting I want to state that the following 2 links are already done:
How can I install Minecraft?
How do I install Java?
I have the .minecraft folder in my user folder (/home/cyrex/.minecraft). The minecraft.jar file has the executable flag. The minecraft version is the 1.2.5. I have OpenJRE AND OpenJDK installed with version 1.6 and 1.7 (1.6 default).
So I'm using kubuntu 13.10 and have java jdk-7 installed. I have minecraft.jar in my downloads folder and its set to start up with java jdk runtime. When I click it to start it up it shows that java runtime is starting up (icon next to mouse and its in the task manager). It will attempt to start for about 15 seconds then close.
I'm completely new to Ubuntu, so bear with me. I've just installed 12.04 on my Samsung Chromebook (ARM processor). I get the minecraft.jar file to open, am able to sign into the launcher, but when I click play the files load, then the launcher closes and reopens. I've tried it with every Java option I know of (OpenJDK Java 6 or 7, Oracle Java 6 or 7) but to no avail.
