My system is able to resume from suspend only after I've let it hibernate:scratch:.
When I do a fresh boot and suspend the system just after the desktop started, resuming will result in a black screen and I had to power off the computer (see pm-suspend-kde-fail.log).
I have just updated the kernel to
aa@aa-E6530:~$ uname -a
Linux aa-E6530 3.5.0-22-generic #34-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jan 8 21:47:00 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
and my suspend stopped working.
The last part of the file /var/log/pm-suspend.log is:
Sat Jan 19 23:58:25 GMT 2013: performing suspend
Sat Jan 19 23:58:34 GMT 2013: Awake.
Sat Jan 19 23:58:34 GMT 2013: Running hooks for resume
Run
Ever since the update kernel 3.4 my laptop runs slow until after a suspend/resume.It seems something has gone wrong with the power management settings from powerup, that then get corrected through the suspend/resume cycle. Its now getting rather anoying having to suspend my machine after boot, just to be able to use it.Does any know what the problem might be or what information I should look at to
I can move my mouse around, see wall paper and top panel or switch to ctrl-alt-F1.
But I cannot click anything nor do any key combination work.
What should I do beside restart lightdm?
I chose to suspend because I don't want to lose my data. If I have to restart lightdm every time resume from suspend, I'd rather shutdown my computer.
how can i get normal suspend functionality back?
I seem to be running into an issue when I suspend my laptop. upon suspend my keyboard layout seems to think the right side of my keyboard is like a 10 key. I have had to disable screen lock on resume because I am unable to type my username or password, even switching to a virtual terminal the messed up keyboard layout persists.
I've got an HP dv7t that's been running a 32-bit Ubuntu build since 8.10. I generally keep a 500GB external (USB2.0) drive mounted at all times. I almost always suspend the laptop at night and resume in the morning.
I have a brand new ASUS EEEPC 1015B (AMD C-50 APU) Netbook on which I have installed Ubuntu 11.10 but when I close the lid or select "Suspend" from the power menu or press the power button it won't resume from Suspend mode...
It will actually suspend ok - just won't resume...
Anyone else using the same laptop with Ubuntu 11.10?
I am more or less a complete Linux noob, and using 12.04 for the first time. Everything works great, and I am very happy, but there is one exception: suspend won't resume. Every time I suspend my computer, (whether by clicking suspend or by closing the lid) it goes to a black screen (with the backlight on) but there is no way to wake it up.
I'll copy the post of "ethanay" from the m1330 thread that seems to be unanswered...
I'm having the same problem:
"
Suspend works for me mostly, but when I close the lid and leave it suspended for a while, then resume, it automatically suspends a 2nd time.
