I've successfully rooted my 1st gen Kindle Fire, and I'm mostly happy with how everything is working. The only problem I'm having is that now that it's rooted I'm no longer able to access books purchased from Amazon through the Kindle app as the device will no longer register. Is there any way around this, or do you forfeit the Kindle app for the joys of everything else when rooting?
Back story: I purchased a used Kindle Fire on Ebay about a week ago, not knowing that it had been rooted. I was looking for a standard Kindle fire for my son so he would stop using my tablet (lol) and the parental controls are better and more books and so on... none the less when I got it I noticed that it booted differently (I had a kindle fire prior) and it booted into Android.
Hey All,
I have recently flashed twa_priv's CM10 ROM (20120824-2036-Linaro) on my kindle fire and I'm super impressed with the speed and functionality. I do however have a problem with the Kindle book app corrupting books after what seems like a 24hr period. I am able to open the app, register the device, download books and read them without problems.

Amazon.com Help: Kindle Fire (1st Generation) Software Updates
"We have a new, free software update available for Kindle Fire 1st Generation that includes bug fixes and performance improvements."
Out of curiosity I reverted my kindle to stock and got this installed.
The Kindle Fire 2 is now a part of the 7" Kindle Fire HD forum.
In terms of software, the Kindle Fire 2 is much closer to the 7" Kindle Fire HD than the original Kindle Fire. The two are similarly equipped with locked bootloaders, run ICS and share the same rooting method. Consequently, the KF2 has now been made a part of this 7" KF HD forum.
As the description by Amazon, the model is KFTT for Kindle Fire 7 HD.
KFHD or KFTT, is best name???
BTW, all the Kindle Fire model as follow:
1st gen Kindle Fire: Kindle Fire
2nd gen Kindle Fire: KFOT
7HD Kindle Fire: KFTT
WiFi 8.9HD Kindle Fire:WFJWI
WAN8.9"HD Kindle Fire:WFJWA
If you’ve been hankering for a brand-spanking new Amazon Kindle Fire or Amazon Kindle Fire HD, today is a good day for you. Amazon has officially listed both products as available on its website and is now ready for consumers’ wallets nationwide.
Amazon today unveiled its new Whispercast for Kindle service, which provides businesses and other organizations like schools a way to easily deploy Kindle content to members, students and employees across not only Amazon hardware, but also Kindle apps for iOS and Android devices. Right now, it allows administrators to buy Kindle books and documents and spread them around.
I have a bunch of Kindle Books I've gotten from Amazon.com but I can't stand the Kindle App as there's no way to organize books at all.
Is there any alternate apps that can read in the Kindle Books but would let me organize them into folders or something?
Thanks.
