Background:
I was trying to solve a problem I had with Libreoffice and installed/uninstalled a couple of packages (it is a fresh install of 12.10 Quantal). I don't know if it is related but there is now a long pause after the login screen, before showing the desktop.
Hi
I am on Fedora 16 KDE spin. Yesterday I ran the fsck command and that broke things. I can login via the tty, so I guess it has nothing to do with the shadow file. The login screen reappears after login no matter how many times I try to get past it. The permissions are the same as before. Also I have tried renaming the .kde folder. Doesn't help. This affects all the users, even root.
Hi
This question is usually responded to with "Liveuser does not need a password".
Well believe it or not in some configuration it is not possible to go passed the login screen of Fedora 11 or 12 KDE.
If you just hit enter which should work, it goes black with a blue flasy thing and then back to the login screen.
Hello,
I am young on linux, After I updated Fedora 17 (With Gnome desktop) at login the screen or theme of login it is like old style, but after login it is normal perfect Gnome, also I searched on dconf-editor but I could not see any solution, can I change it to default. :)
Thanks for guides.
After reinstalling Fedora 17 and keeping my /home to try and solve this problem, it still persists. Basically if I try to login as my normal user, I get stuck in a login screen loop where I can't access my system.
I can however login as root and I can login normally using runlevel 3. It is obvious why I don't want to do this though.
Hi
I installed GNOME shell and now I can't login after restarting the computer.
It brings up the login screen and I can enter my password, but it just goes back to the login screen. I would like to stop GDM and run X -config to see if that straightens out the problem.
Suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance
i845g 43 weeks 2 days ago Hi,
I have a problem logging back in to an X session. Only the very first (after bootup) login screen is diplayed. When I log in and later loggout the X login screen never comes back on. The screen stays blank/black.
Technicaly I can "blindly" login to an X session again because the machine normaly runs, but I cannot see the X login screen.
Hi Gurus,
This is Vivek, iam very new to linux desktop environments. I have been using Fedora 17 for my official work from the last couple of months and i feel this to be very light on applications and fast when compared to Windows.
Ok, now the problem is I was trying to have the feel and look of Mac OSX Lion theme on my existing Fedora 17 desktop.
