Hi everyone, I'm new here but I've got a little bit of outdated linux know-how.
Briefly, I'm having a problem installing Ubuntu 12.04 (.1) LTS on my desktop and it's driving me mad.
I have trouble getting my Ubuntu install to recognize my SSD HD.
I have tried following distributions: 11.10 and 12.04 (daily)

It looks like my motherboard is thinking about dying so I expect I'll need another one soon. I have a Conroe E6600, and am sing DDR2 800 memory at the moment, I would like to just swap boards and not have to spend money on RAM etc.
I am looking at the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P, has anyone had any experience with this board and fedora?
Hi, I am attempting to install the x86-64 version of Ubuntu 12.10 on my desktop, but approximately 3/4 of the way through the install, it hangs and my display becomes corrupted. I have left it alone for 2 additional hours just to make sure that it isn't continuing installing in the background, and I have tried with the grab updates/3rd party toggles on and off.
Hi All,
I'm trying to install Fedora 17 on a small single board computer from a fresh live usb. All i get when turning it on is a blinking cursor. I tested the live usb in my laptop and it worked fine. I was able to install Fedora 16 on this same Single Board Computer. Is there I was i can get Fedora 17 to boot? Maybe jus tin text mode?
Hi everyone!
Another issue I experience is the following:
When I insert the Ubuntu Live CD into my laptop cd drive, it is recognized, as it shows the menu where I can choose to install, to try it without installing etc. However, when I choose install, it says that something is not empty... and it won't install, neither does the live version start up.
Ok, here is an unusual problem. I have a Dell vostro 1510 with an nVidia 8400M graphics card. The GPU fried on it and I had it sent into dell. They probably replaced the motherboard and flashed the BIOS with an updated version that corrects the GPU error.
