Ubuntu 12.04.1 amd64 live CD (or Ubuntu 12.04.1 amd64 LTS installed on HDD from alternate CD) doesn't start completely on Sony Vaio E series with AMD Radeon HD 7650M (2 GB).
I've tried nomodeset and noacpi parameters on kernel/grub, fglrx drivers from Ubuntu repository and fglrx drivers from AMD site (13.1).
Intel HD4000 gpu seems hardware disabled on this Core i7-3632QM cpu.
I use Sony Vaio VPCEA23en with graphics card ATI Radeon HD 5145 and have been using Ubuntu 11.10 and recently upgraded to 12.04 beta, however the problem of overheating (60-70) still persists.
I have installed the graphics driver properly. Are there some features of Ubuntu that cause this problem?
I just installed Ubuntu 11.10 on A Sony Vaio VGN-FS920. I need to know how to install drivers for the touchpad and basicaly general operating drivers. I know you can go to Sony's site and get them but they are all for Windows XP. What can I do. I really like Ubuntu and I think it is the best system for this older model computer.
hi. I have this new vaio (i post the lspci output after the message
I use vesa driver with fallback mode in gnome 3 since the radeon hd 7650m card is not supported at the moment.
the problem is that it hangs often usually while I am downloading from internet.
what coul be the cause? maybe defected ram ? I noticed it happens more often with kernel 3.4. than the 3.3.7 one....
i have a problem with my Ubuntu 12.04 Wubi installation, sometimes when booting, the computer will get to the purple screen without the Ubuntu logo, then will go to a black screen and then lots of white saccaged colors will appear and i will be taken to the login page. But sometimes, it just get stuck on the black screen and does nothing and i have to hard shutdown and retry it until it works.
Hello. I am new to the forums and kind of new to Ubuntu and I am having a problem when trying to install Experimental 310 drivers. My laptop specs are:
Sony Vaio VGN-AW290J/AH
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 Ghz
2 Gb Ram (had a stick go out. Getting a new one soon as it is standard 4gb ram)
Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT
Ubuntu 12.04 32bit (fully updated)
I am using the Nvidia Current-update driver right now.
I have installed Ubuntu using Wubi on my Windows 7 machine (Sony Vaio). Everything installed perfectly, but whenever I reboot my system there is no Ubuntu (there is no dual boot menu). I checked my Windows setting and it seems there is only Windows (it could not recognize Ubuntu).
Could anyone help me how to solve this problem.
I am attempting to install Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS on a Sony Vaio Laptop, the laptop's primary screen is non-functional. I run into a problem on the screen following the creation of a username/password. It appears to want me to select an avatar. I get an error relating to the webcam it seems when I look in the /var/log/syslogs.
I have a VAIO laptop model VGN-C22GH. It has a built in wireless card with a Intel Centrino processor on his motherboard.
When using Ubuntu 10.04, the wireless indicator blinks violently. This symptom does not appear with earlier versions of Ubuntu like 9.10 or 8.10.
This leads me to believe that it is a driver issue.
