I'm trying to re-enable the synaptics touchpad on my laptop after disabling several months ago... And I can't remember which method I used to disable it.
I just switched from gnome 32bit to KDE 64 bit 9.04, and I have a problem now. My touchpad on the laptop is very sensitive.. I have to disable clicking with the actual pad (not the buttons but the pad you touch to move the mouse around)... if I don't disable this, it ports my cursor around from random "mouse clicks" from the palm of my hand.
I hate the touchpad on this laptop and use a wireless mouse at all times, but I don't dare disable the touchpad for fear of having forgotten to pack the mouse, dead mouse battery or whatever.
If I were to disable the touchpad (very easy in KDE 4.4.4) could I re-enable it from CLI in an emergency?
thanx
This simple and brief tutorial is going to show Ubuntu beginners how to disable touchpad tap to click.
To get started, go to top right corner system menu and click on System Settings.
Click on Mouse and Touchpad in System Settings window.
Now go to Touchpad tab, and you can see the checkbox before “Enable mouse clicks with touchpad”.
Just uncheck the checkbox to disable touchpad tap
Hi all, I have a new System76 Gazelle running Ubuntu 12.10. Accidental input on the touchpad is out of control and has become a serious issue. The usual clicking in a different spot while typing problem occurs.
Hello all,
I've just installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my HP Envy 14 (first generation) laptop (first time installing Linux which is why I'm in this forum). The touchpad is giving me problems. Although basic functionality such as clicking and right clicking work, higher functions such as multitouch and (most importantly) disabling the touchpad while typing do not work.
;)Have seen a number of threads regarding disabling synaptics touchpads on laptops, Tried several of the suggestions but they didn't work for me.
How To Auto-Disable The Touchpad When The Mouse Is Plugged In
(Fedora 13)
Hello all, hopefully this brief how-to will help others, this issue
has been bugging me for years.
I prefer a mouse and dislike touchpad, so I'd like to disable the touchpad on this laptop, but I need to be able to re-enable it if the mouse is unavailable (dead battery, forgot to pack it or whatever).
I can easily disable the touchpad in KDE, but would need to know a simple way to re-enable it from CLI if needed. Does anyone kow a simple command to do so?
