I installed 12.10 on an Acer AOD250 machine, and it works really well(far better than I thought).
But the Mic is still acting a little odd.
I open the sound settings and the microphone there picks up nothing, along with Skype, though I ran Audacity and it gave me an option to choose the Mic(HDA Intel: ALC272) and it works just fine.

Have been trying to configure Skype so that i can make video calls. The webcam works great but i can't get the sound? The only option under sound devices is: PulseAudio server (local) which doesn't work? Could someone help me please. Thanks
Hello All,
I installed skype with the help of the skype wiki on en.opensuse.org/Skype (using zypper to install extra necessary packages).
So, Skype now opens A-ok, but I have 2 problems:
1) NO SOUND
2) My 2 USB webcams don't work.
I just got an HTC DNA and it looks great but can't figure out how to configure the proxy settings on this thing..
I had a Thunderbolt before this, and it was a snap to change the proxy settings under the settings , but it seems the option has disappeared on the DNA.?.?
Any help or advice is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
Thanks in advance!!!

Built and installed mplayer on Fedora 18 (had working before in F-16, 12).
I had some issues with needed development versions of gtk and zlib to build - apparently the .h files needed are only in the development release, even though the libraries appear to be here by default.
The below fixed the config and make for mplayer for me (64 bit version).
yum install zlib-devel.x86_64 gtk2-devel.x

I installed skype 4 on my Fedora 16 64bit using yum to pull the dependencies automatically.
Skype runs okay but the color scheme does not follow system settings. Currently selected user in the contact list appears in black text on a dark blue background making it almost unreadable. I have attached the screenshot.
Following a troubleshooting post I've found out that my driver is recognized in fact but is not listed at the sound settings and I think because of this my cinnamon sound applet will not appear.

Having problems with sound in Skype in Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit.
The laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad e530. Have tried various combinations in Skype-settings,
but I'm not able to make a call as 'sound problems' flashes up every time.
The version of Skype is 4.1.0.20 and the sound and microphone seem to work otherwise.
