I have installed ubuntu gnome 14.04.1 recently. However, I found out that the driver of my printer, canon mx 366, can't detect my printer.
It is known that this printer uses the Canon MX 360 driver.
Back to ubuntu 12.04, I can install the driver and use it properly. (I have left Ubuntu since then)
I have googled about this problem and found some solution.
I have two printers, a Lexmark laser printer, and a Canon colour printer/scanner. They are both hooked up via USB to my Print Server. They are set up in Print Management and shared as \\\PS1\Lexmark and \\\PS1\Canon.
When the client computers use the Canon printer via print server, they are not seeing the scanning functionality of the printer.
Toshiba Laptop L350-S5933, Intel Pentium Dual CPU T3400 @2.16 GHz, Ram 3.o GB, ACPI x86 32 bit OpSys, Canon MP560, Dual Boot installed Karmic (Vista other OS), Canon is logged into wireless network using Actiontec.
Ubuntu shows the printer as the default printer. Listed as
Make & Model: Canon Pixma MP500 - cups+ Gutenprint v5.4
the printer happily outputs test page accurately but I cannot get disk print to function at all. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Current driver version is Canon IP4800 Canon iP4800 series Ver.3.40

I have a fresh install of Mythbuntu 12.04.01
I download and installed the Canon drivers from the Canon website:
UFR II Printer Driver for Linux Version 2.50
I used the procedure at this location:
When I print documents, I see them show up in the print queue.
Just bought a Canon Pixma MX722 printer for the trailer. I checked, and it has LInux support from Canon. I did not use the driver that I just linked to, as the Canon USA site, when it detects my Linux system, tells me that the driver may be included with my distro. It is -- on my 14.04 machine.
