I have a canon MF4350n printer. Their's being proprietary, the drivers are available in .rpm and .deb packages only - the source code not available. I wonder how do I install them. dpkg does not work.

So my friends who are new to Linux just bought a new printer, a Canon IP3600 because we saw that Canon Europe has a driver for that model. Also this printer has individual ink tanks and so it is easy to refill the cartridges.
Here is the updated drivers for Canon MP990 XPS wireless series. This is the driver version 5.30b for Canon MP990 XPS All in one Printer for Windows Vista and Windows 7. If you have older version, please update your printer driver using this 5.30b version.
I'm currently trying to configure a Canon Pixma printer for a client. I've already setup the printer successfully on his previous Ubuntu 10.04 desktop. I've just migrated this machine to Slackware 14.1.
The printer drivers have to be downloaded on the Canon website. They come in various RPM and DEB formats, and also as "source", which only works for rpmbuild.
