Is there anyone out there who has been able to use the isight camera on their iMacs? I have a 2006 24" iMac dual booting with Mint 14 xfce.
I have Ubuntu 12.04 installed on my Intel iMac. Except the keyboard everything is working fine out of the box. There is however one thing I like to be solved, that is strange startup behaviour. When I start the iMac Ubuntu will startup and failed to startup turn by turn.
I'm using archlinux as a server to netboot a semi-functional powerPC iMac (g5) into the leopard installation image. My setup is simple-- wired router, linux/pc dual-boot, and the iMac.What is the simplest possible configuration for dnsmasq that will allow the iMac to see the file at boot?iMac uses open firmware, an efi boot-loader.

Strange problem. Ubuntu works fine on my iMac if I choose previous kernals and use kernal 2.6.....25. (Don't know exact string).
The newest kernal that was installed after my upgrade was 2.6.....32. I try booting into that kernal and it just goes to black screen after about 20 seconds. About 50% of the time I get a boot loader, and then black.
I now have Xubuntu 12.04 on three of my machines (two HP laptops and a Dell Dimension 3000 desktop). Love it! Works very well.
I don't spend much time on my iMac anymore because I have really lost interest since Lion was releaed a while back. The more I use Linux the harder I find it to go back to my iMac. At the moment I have a partition set up on my iMac to install Xubuntu 12.04.
Hi all,
I tried openSuse 11.2 on my brandnew iMac today.
Unfortunately the screen size openSuse recognizes is only 1440x1050.
My iMac screen data is:
ATI Radeon HD 4670
VRAM (gesamt): 256 MB
ROM-Version: 113-B8030C-253
EFI-Driverversion: 01.00.367
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Hy,
First of all, best wishes for the new year.
I have the last Imac 21.5 inches, 2.7 Quad Core, OSX 10.8.
I want to install Ubuntu Desktop 12.0.4 on a dead iMac. The iMac has no OS installed into it. The only access I have is through an uncompatible OS X Snow Leopard DVD. This gives me access to Disk Utility and terminal (although the terminal will not recognise the sudo command).
I would like create a USB installer (not cd at all costs, as I have no access to CDS at this time).
