This is on a system I used fedup to upgrade from F17 to F18.
Okay. I have 12.04 installed and am using xfce (although I don't think that is relevant).
This morning I pulled my tablet out of its hole and to my surprise discovered that it wasn't working. Looking in the mouse and tablet properties (xfce) I see that it is detected. It lights up green like normal when the pen contacts the surface. Okay.
So I took a look at my xorg.conf.
I typed su to get superuser privileges in my ubuntu 12.10 and then typed startx to start the x-server.After the x-server started successfully,i typed reboot command.It gave a broadcast message printed on the terminal and restarted.Login screen appeared.but even when i typed correct pasword,the useraccount is not getting unlocked.instead it is rebooting once again.i have very important data stored
I installed Arch i686 on a VirtualBox VM (I have an nvidia GT610). I ran the following commmand as root:
pacman -S nvidia
After installation and rebooting, I ran
pacman -S xorg-server xorg-xinit xorg-server-utils xorg-twm xorg-xclock xterm
then
startx
I got a fatal error saying No screens found. Any help as to what should I do ?
I want to change my colour depth. I posted this, and got the following answer:
Create an xorg.conf file by running Xorg -configure. Then edit the Depth entry in the Display subsection of the Screen section.
You can start an X server with a non-default depth by running e.g.
After installing RHEL6 beta server from redhat ftp site I am unable to start into runlevel 5. When I went through the initial installation "xorg-x11-server-utils *" some reason is corrupted so i couldnot continue with the x-window gui. Any one has any suggestion what I should do go get into start x windows.
I've a dual-boot Windows 7 and OpenSUSE 12.1 box and when I boot into Linux it didn't load the desktop but it loads the emergency console. I didn't buy it so I typed xfcestart to start the desktop but X gives me the error message "no protocols specified" and the screen went black. I repeated this to catch the message but to no avail.
Hi every one i wanted to change screen resolution manually from xorg.conf and apparently a missed it up and my fedora core stucks and wont start, how can i start fedora in command line (so that i can remove xorg.conf), i tryed ctrl+alt+f1, ctrl+alt+backspace and still cant start in command prompt, i appreciate any help
Running Fedora 11.
At boot all goes well but X server fails to start (the Fedora logo shows up but hangs)
Here is output of startx
