Cannot play dvd on Fedora 17

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – Hi, I am new to Fedora 17. After I put my dvd in my computer, I tried to open it with media player (totem), but there is no option that said "open disc". I installed VLC, but it didn't help at all. Please help me figure out the solution. Thanks in advance. (HowTos)

Hi everybody.

I want to play an AudioCD but rythmbox crashes while trying to open the CD. I also tried totem, but the Menu entry for the "Play this audio CD" is disabled.

what's the catch??

Hi, I'm kind of lost with this one. Right away: Installing the missing library files as proposed in other threads does not work for me.

I get the following error message in VLC:

Playback failure: DVDRead could not open the disc "/dev/dvd". Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd:///dev/dvd'.

Totem Doesn't play 26 weeks 6 days ago

I everyone, I've just upgraded Fedora 17 to 18. Totem doesn't play any video but, every other video player have no problem (gnome player, vlc even xnoise). The program is not able to find proper codecs with his own. I've installed a lot of gstreamer packages.

Some ideas?

As my exploration through Fedora is going quite well (and due to recent problems that I haven't been able to fix in Ubuntu, it's drawing me to Fedora even more), I still have another small question.

Hello dear, :confused: i upgrade my fedora 17 to 18 using fedup , and eveything goes fine , when i was using fedora 17 vlc media player works fine but when i upgraded its not working fine , i tried to uninstall it and reinstall it again but useless .

:blink: sometimes i got error and sometimes without error and vlc cant play normal files that i was opening it on fedora 17 !!!

I'm sure this must have been asked before, but I've not be able to find a solution despite hours of googling.

I've got a fedora 14 box with most of my music on and mediatomb running. I've also got a WDTV box that can play streamed music.

The strangest thing happened. I never shut down my computers (except during a lightning storm), and KDE has been up and running for some time now.
