I am trying to install Cinnamon and allow myself to choose which one I would prefer. I have done the first two main steps.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:merlwiz79/cinnamon-ppa
and
sudo apt-get update
which were both successful and then I try to run.
sudo apt-get install cinnamon
and this is what I get -

After upgrading from 10.04 to 12.04 I am trying to install different packages.
For instance ia32-libs and skype (4.0).
When trying to install these, I am getting the 'Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages' error message.
Output of commands:

i try to install git and git-core ad get following error msgs plz solve it

I tried to install packages on the terminal but every time i try it shows this status!!
Example i tried to install php-5 and this what it says
sudo apt-get install php5-cli

E: Unable to locate package php5-cli
This is my second install ever (firefox went smooth). This is happening:

I was following instructions on ubuntu.com regarding how to uncompress and install tarfiles. I attempted to download a file named 'autogen.sh' which the instructions said MIGHT be necessary to help install a tarball.
