Hi all
This works as i just did a successful installation of the latest wicd package. Although networkmanager is much better thatn before, wicd connects quicker and mostly importantly it never has any problem connecting after resuming from hybernation or standby.

In short words I had issues with wi-fi so removed network manager. Used windows OS (dual booting w7 and 12.04) to download Wicd 1.7.2.4. extracted it and installed. However wcid worked properly with wired connection but could not connect to wi-fi. Re-installed network manager wich works properly now and wicd connects to wi-fi too. As soon i remove network manager wicd connects only to wired.
Hi there!
I know that wicd doesn't have support for VPN yet. So, I am wondering... is there any alternative to use wicd + VPN ? I have to use wicd instead of gnome network manager because I keep loosing my connection with the last one.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Andres.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 on an LG laptop. I'm connecting to my home wireless network with WEP encryption.
The default Network Manager handles this fairly well. However, I prefer using Wicd, since it starts scanning for networks at boot time, saving me an annoying wait after I log in.
I wanted to share the problems I ran into while switching, and how to avoid them.
Hi all,Im having problems with the network manager so decided to install wicd which on other distros never gave me any problem. Now Im working with a badly patched network system which is the default network manager together with wicd. What would like to know is the procedure to remove the default net manager and have wicd start at boot.Thank you in advance

Firstly, I must prophylactically express my unwillingness to use network-manager. To do such a thing, I might as well use Windoze. I'd rather go without. I like wicd. However, Network-Manager has no trouble connecting wirelessly and obtaining an IP, none at all. Since I've uninstalled network-manager, wicd will not obtain an IP address.
i'm currently running gnome 3 with wicd as my internet interface...
