Whenever I try and run gnash, it complains:http://paste.chakra-project.org/3411/Seems to need the libpng14 library still and even that will not compile for me!
I like the browser Epiphany (now Web or something).
I also hate Flash and I heard about Gnash, its free alternative.
All I want to do is to set up Epiphany somehow to use Gnash on YouTube. I can't get that to work.
I have installed browser-plugin-gnash, but it doesn't do anything. I have plug-ins enabled in Epiphany.
Gnash: Multiple vulnerabilities
Hello,
After installation the new FC17, with gnash-plugin and gnome, I have good results to see some video's in firefox 13.0.
Code:
[gastonv@gastonv ~]$ yum list installed | grep gnash

Greetings community--
I am a hardcore Ubuntu user and have been for years. This is my first post.
I am tired of Flash for videos. The HW acceleration just isn't happening without me changing the adobe mms file. However, this is extremely unstable and it crashed.
I have a basic Nvidia GT610 card.
So I have switched to Gnash hoping that it would help me. The 480p is fine.
I used to have this problem, but one day it went away on its own….Have you tried any flash alternatives? Gnash is one. I thought there was another one as well, but I can't remember what it was called.

I decided to give Gnash a try but, after replacing Adobe Flash plugin (using the Flash-Aid adddon in Firefox), the FlashGot button for getting media ('FlashGot Media') is not available anymore.
Here is how it should appear:
DownloadHelper, a Firefox addon similar to FlashGot, works with Gnash very well.
Looks like Adobe doesn't care about this bug - it has been reported since April and it's still not fixed and bug commits keep getting marked as "not able to reproduce" - what a joke.
Seven months after the previous update arrived, the Gnash community has released version 0.8.9 of its open source Flash Player. According to the developers, the last few months of development "have been pretty eventful" and the latest version includes several important advances.
