Hi, always remember to save the output of grub-mkconfig to your /boot/grub/grub.cfg, that doesn't happen automatically. I suppose that is your problem since GRUB2 shows all entries it finds in its config file even if they are garbage e.g. the partition or loader doesn't exist.I have this alias in my .bashrc so I won't ever forget.
i've just installed Ubuntu 12 on my new laptop ( with Win7 64bit pre installed ) in EFI mode and now i can't load Win7 anymore ( Ubuntu just loads fine from grub ).
When i select the Windows 7 entry in the grub menu, i get this error:
Invalid EFI file path
The grub.cfg entry ( generated by boot-repair ) is:
menuentry "Windows 7 (loader) (on /dev/sda3)" --class windows --class os {

Yup, I bought and added a new drive. Now I can boot my NEW arch, my OLD arch (different installations, differents drives) after changing some lines on my OLD /etc/fstab (my OLD root used to be /dev/sda2, now it is /dev/sdb2, and it boots fine).I was just asking, is it possible to make my windows (used to be sda1, now on sdb1) boot, even if I need to change some windows config files, as I did with m
I have intsalled f17 for many times by cd or usb stick. The install process is sccessful. But if I reboot my computer, it load win7 directly and I have no chance to boot into f17.

Hello i just installed Fedora 17 today.
I want to use dual boot with win7 but after the installation only fedora was shown in grub bootloader.
i tryed grub2-mkconfig. Doesnt helped.
I have 2 NTFS Partitions.
At first, Windows 7 was the only OS in the drive.
Then I installed MINT. Accidentally, I formated the sda1 partition (where the windows 7 bootloader was stored) as ext4, being the mount point of /boot.
Hi all,
I'm new to Ubuntu and I've installed Ubuntu desktop 12.10 in my Satellite L300D, alongside with Win7.
While the Ubuntu installation seems to be just fine, I can't boot Win7.
When I choose the "Windows 7 (loader) (on /dev/sda2)" it changes to a black screen for 1 second and then it returns to GRUB.
I've tried the Boot Repair solution but it didn't work.
Hello!
I installed fedora on a PC with Win7 on it from live-usb and had an error:
"There was an error installing the bootloader. The system may not be bootable.
Hi,
I have a dual boot computer (Ubuntu 11.10 or 11.04 / Win7). Everything was working fine until yesterday when it froze while I was under Win7, after that I can't boot the computer anymore and it keeps restarting. The restart occurs right before the when the grub should start (I can't see the grub at all).
I've tried to boot from Ubuntu live CD, but that doesn't also work.
