Have an HP Laserjet3100 multifunction printer with ONLY parallel port connector. Found driver and installed HP-LIP-3.12.9 without error. Requires reboot then finish with hp-setup command in terminal. Setup starts OK but the option to use parallel port is greyed out; only have choice of USB, network, or WiFi to install printer. How do I get parallel port as option to install? Ubuntu 12.04LTS
I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 using the text based installer. However I am now unable to use the Ethernet port to connect to the internet, despite the port working three days ago when the computer was running xp. I know that my Ethernet cable works, as my laptop can connect with it.
Today I plugged an ethernet cord into the router and printer.
The printer is found under: applications > administration > printing > HP-Laserjet-4M
Clicking this icon brings up Printer Properties, but the printer is not yet connecting with the printer.
I could use some suggestions on changing the Device URI from parallel to ethernet.
So far I have tried: socket://---ip#---:9100 ...
Hello everyone. I have a VPN I use for various things. I connect to it using NetworkManager, so when I want to use it I currently have to use it for all my internet activities. I'm wondering if there's a way for me to have 2 ethernet devices, like eth0 and eth1, so that I can connect one to the VPN and the other can stay as is.
I have an HP 1100A laser printer (parallel port) which includes a scanner. With the ubuntu based version of crunchbang i could successfully use the scanner (ie the parallel port is well handled).Any reason to thing this should/Should not / work with the latest statler version ?Thanks
I have a computer that is connected to the internet via wifi. I then have a ethernet cable coming out from my wifi computer into another computer which has no wifi or place to plug into ethernet.
I have shared the wifi connection to the LAN port, and the computer successfully gets internet. But, on that computer I have a FTP server that I want the wifi network to be able to connect to.
I have a Laserjet 4L printer and can easily install it assigned to LPT #1.
However, it is not connected to LPT #1 but via a USB port, as follows:
Motherboard USB Port -> KVM Switch* -> USB to Parallel Cable -> Printer
I think the KVM Switch is irrelevant but I have noted it here for completeness.
Hello i have a wifi usb dongle an alfa rt2800usb. I connect to the internet through this card. How can i share the internet through the ethernet port of my laptop to another pc?

In our MD's house, we have fibre optic connection given by the ISP upto Distribution box inside the house where the fibre optic cable is connected to HUAWEI-ECHOLFIE HG865 terminal .From the RJ 45 port in that device , the ethernet cable goes to the DLINK 8 port switch.
