I'm having a problem where some user's of my web site complains they're receiving empty e-mail messages. After comparing the content and e-mail header of their e-mails with the ones I get I'm leaning onto the conclusion that their mail server somehow changes the content. Spam filter or virus filter maybe?
We have a mail server running Debian 5.0. It is one year old now but we want to deploy a new server with Ubuntu Server 10.04. The problem is that we want to transfer all the user mails and settings to the new mail-serverl. So all their usernames and passwords should be the same, all their mails should be transferred successfully to the new mail server.

For security reasons, do you think I should rely on my hosting company's centralized mail server for my domain's email? Or should I just set up my own mail server on the same Cloud server?
Maybe I should use Google Apps' mail server for my own domain?
Thanks in advance

I am concerned my mail server setup may cause some ISPs to reject mail that is sent by it.
I am using Postfix to send mail for a web application, light load, user notices. It also sends cron notices and "monit" alerts. It is for sending mail only. I guess it wants to be "null client".
The postfix server and webapp live on the same box. The webapp builds the "to" and "from" email mail headers.
In some SMTP server implementations (i.e. Postfix) you can enable "Delivered-To" and "X-Original-To" headers that will be added to your email.
This is very helpful with distribution lists to determine which e-mail address the mail has been redirected to.
