I need machines on the LAN to be able to access by the external address or hostname. If it can't be done, then just by hostname is OK as well, so I thought of just doing it through DNS on our internal DNS server (a Linux machine), but I don't know how to make that have different ports go to different LAN IPs.
1) I have three Linux computers on my internal network, each with a static IP address. I wondered if it was safely possible to place an Apache Web server on one of them, and to also map my routers external/internal ports to just access the internal ports and IP address, via the web server.
2) I'e found this, which seems to do what I'm after, but need help understanding how this works.
