We have a SQL 2005 64bit SP2 server running on Windows 2003 R2 SP2. It also has Reporting Server installed and that serves as it's primary function.
I'm running Microsoft SQL Express 2008 on a Windows 2012 Server box. Got everything work, and I even manage to connect with the firewall down. But I dont really want the firewall turned off at all times so what port do I need to open up?
I've allready have the two inbound rules with TCP port 1433 and 1434 but I still seem to be missing something?
I have a development server with an SQL 2008 EXPRESS instance running on it.
I'm trying to setup an FTP server on Windows 2008 Server. I can connect locally:
C:\>ftp localhost
Connected to WebHead1
220 Microsoft FTP Service
However, when I try to connect from remote, it doesn't work:
~>ftp x.x.x.x
ftp: Can't connect to `x.x.x.x': Operation timed out
ftp: Can't connect to `x.x.x.x'
I've tried everything I can think of with the settings.
I have Windows 2008 box and would like to set port forward rule in Windows Firewall for MSSQL Server.
I found about a dozen questions like this, read them all, but still can't find the problem.
I have a dedicated server running SQL Server 2008 R2 express.
Both computer have Windows 7 but i can't connect from one computer to the other where SQL Server 2012 Express is installed. EDIT: This is a local network.
Ive opened up the program on the firewall and enable sql browser service but i still can't connect.
I used the format "HOSTNAME\NAMEDINSTANCE".
Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.
I have downloaded Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and also Microsoft SQL Server R2.
My server name is local. When i try to connect, it shows the following error:
Cannot connect to (local).

I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine with SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise installed.
