Can only boot via Recovery mode

http://askubuntu.com – I am using a ASUS 1225C netbook, with intel gma3600. Because graphics support was not available, i followed the instructions given here. Now when I get the grub screen, If i select the first option (the one that I always used to select), i just get a blank screen and nothing else. Instead if I select the second option (recovery mode), and then select "normal" option in the menu that appears, I am able to log in and get a perfect 1366 x 768 resolution. Everything looks better than it was before I tried the cedal trail fix mentioned above. Why am I unable to boot using the usual first option (HowTos)
