When Canonical started developing the Ubuntu Software Center, I knew that a time will come when it will completely replace Synaptic.
I have used sakis3g to connect to internet as network manager is not able to make a connection although it recognizes the modem. But the problem is many software including pidgin and software center doesn't know that computer is already connected to internet and I am having problems installing software especially the debs I downloaded.
Hi! All of a sudden I can't install any kind of application through Synaptic or the Software center. What could be the problem? I'm on Ubuntu 12.04. Also, tried updating in the terminal - stucked there too.
Everytime i launch the sw center it opens up for abt 2 minutes, then becomes black,i had recently changed the source of the download for the center from "server India",to the best available, the problem started to occur after doing this,i have reinstalled the sw center package using synaptic, but the problem continues..i have tried
Code:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall software-center
I'm trying to download master-pdf-editor package from official repositories. All sites report that it's easy to do: just download it from ubuntu software center.
I can't install the software center, so I'm trying to install it via apt-get or synaptic, but I can't find the package in the repos...
Can anyone help?
For Applications management, Linux Mint 13 has Software Manager by default. Synaptic Package Manager is also there, but most beginners prefer Software Manager (over the synaptic or command line utility).
In Ubuntu, beginners prefer - Ubuntu Software Center, it’s easy to use and it has a lot of exciting features.
I'm using backTrack5R3. And I 've installed Synaptic as well as ubuntu Software center. Synaptic is very easy to use and gives wide range of details for the packages that I'm going to download. But the problem is it lack of lot of new files and information. Like vlc or adobe reader. The latest stable version of vlc is 2.0. but synaptic only installs, 1.1.
