The wait is finally over and the much anticipated release of GNOME 3 on openSUSE’s latest distro release, 11.4 is ready for download at a desktop near you. Frederic Crozat, a member of the openSUSE GNOME Team, has been working tirelessly, burning the midnight oil getting GNOME3 stable enough for you all to use. See his blog for the full details.
I just downloaded and burned this disc for 11.1 and burned it as instructed with Infrarecorder. It boots up to the selection screen aka (normal gnome, failsafe, floppy..) but if I go beyond this screen, my screen becomes a garbled mess, kind of like a burn in test in an old arcade game machine. I tried using 11.2 gnome and it wont install correctly either.
I know the work PURE can be a wee bit vague, but let me explain. I have installed Lubuntu 12.04 on my PC. I wanted to try out Gnome 3, so in a terminal I did
sudo apt-get install gnome-shell
and I am now using Gnome 3. BUT, is there a way to use Gnome programs and applications and not use the Lubuntu ones?
Hi, I installed Ubuntu Gnome, and updated gnome to 3.12 and I was trying to figure out how to install gnome software, firstly because I want the full gnome experience and second because in 3.12 you can't create categories within the applications overview such as Sundry and Utilities without it. If there's no way to install it, are there any alternatives?

I have installed CentOS 6 in Virtualbox. Although I have chosen to install General Purpose GNOME Desktop, the GNOME desktop does not start. All I get is a black and white text prompt. I would like to know how I can install GNOME Desktop from the CentOS DVD.
How do I mount the DVD image?
