Can I input Chinese in my xterm?

http://askubuntu.com – I have Chinese input working. I have xterm working. I have utf-8 working in my xterm. For example, I can see the lightning bolt unicode character. But when I input Chinese characters, I get those blocks. Whats up with that? Here is what I'm doing in my .Xresources: xterm*faceName: Monospace:9 xterm*boldFont: Monospace:9 xterm*faceNameDoublesize: Monospace:9 Also, I'm using iBus to input Chinese. (HowTos)

I can't seem to get Chinese input working.

I have ibus installed. I can see a choice of input methods in the taskbar at the top. At the moment I have zh (Chinese) and en.

But I am not getting the Chinese input, the input is still English.

I ran sudo ibus-setup, but that showed a lot of errors, but got the demon up and running.

I must be missing a step somewhere.

the xterm seems to not read the colors i setin my ~/.Xresources file when i connect to a linux pc remotely.

Basically, if i'm sitting in front of my pc and i run an xterm from Xsession, the colors will obey whatever is in my ~/.Xresources file - no problem there. Here is my ~/.Xresources file:

XTerm*background: black Xterm*XtDefaultBackground: black Xterm*XtDefaultForeground: white XTerm*foregro

This is what I put in .Xdefaults to change it to my liking.xterm*Background: black xterm*Foreground: green xterm*cursorColor: LightBlue xterm*pointerShape: arrow xterm*pointerColor: blueYou can do it how you like but if you want transparency some things have to be installed.It's explained in the wiki.

I'm using xterm windows within a VNC session, and they are not displaying colors at all. The main thing I need colors for is syntax highlighting in vim, but ls highlighting is useful also.

The default "$TERM" is "xterm".

Hi,For some reason I can't get my xterms to display the terminus font correctly. It mainly shows up when I display man pages, all the dash characters show up as filled black boxes. It happens with other stuff too though. I've been asking in the IRC channel, but so far, no luck.

Thanks, bgc1954.Btw - the issue with xterm not using the .Xresources until I run xrdb is not that big a deal to me - what I'm really concerned with is the xterm being stuck in the upper left hand corner until it decides to release itself.

when i used the xterm command on my server then i get the following error how i can go through it can anybody plzz help me out

The i wrote was: xterm -bg purple

error: xterm Xt error: Can't open display: xterm: DISPLAY is not set
