How To Use Glx-Dock/Cairo-Dock On Ubuntu 12.04
Glx-Dock/Cairo-Dock is an interactive dock (like the one you know
from a Mac) that provides easy access to some of the files, folders,
and applications on your computer, and more. You can use it with
OpenGL (to use your graphics card) or without, and it is compatible with
Compiz, but it can also run without a composite manager.
I'm fairly new to linux and have just recently made the switch from ubuntu to Fedora as there wasnt a whole lot of support for the better open source ATI drivers.
So far Ive been able to get the mesa drivers working with the graphics card but still cannot get opengl working with Cairo Dock. Can anyone tell me what i need to do to enable opengl with Cairo Dock.
Cairo Dock – An awesome dock for Ubuntu desktops has been released. As we have already discussed in our previsou post ‘Ultimate Docks for Ubuntu‘, Cairo GLX dock is a dock manager that uses Cairo / OpenGL to render graphics (many in correlation with Compiz) with full hardware acceleration. It’s fully configurable and fully customizable and can be used as a taskbar too.

Cairo-Dock is a unified dock-like interface for your desktop. Besides a cool dock, it provides a taskbar, and many applets that can be placed either inside the dock or on your desktop, at your convenience ! It is highly customizable and comes with a lot of ready-to-use themes.

Would some one please fill me in on how I can make cairo-dock only hidden while there are windows maximized? It seems to like to revert to either an "always visible" state or always "hidden state." I can manually tinker with some settings to get it to behave, but something keeps changing how it behaves and there seems to be no pattern to how this happens.
I'm trying to use gnome-shell with cairo dock in ubuntu 12.04, but there is one problem, I want to have some kind of menu in cairo dock. The thing is, non of the menus I tried work in cairo dock. I tried mintmenu, gnomenu, cardapio, all of them show up in cairo dock, but then I press them, nothing happens. It just killing me. Thank you for your help.
I recently installed cairo dock, and I love it. However, I miss my universal dock. Is there anyway I can get the Universal dock and cairo dock without the pesky unity dock on the side? I would prefer to keep the interface that opens with the windows key, but that seems to rely on the unity dock, and is optional.
tl;dr I want the Universal dock and the cairo dock without the unity dock

You can customize the dock in many different ways. The animations, text layout, size, theme and much more configurations. This dock gets a 9/10 from me. Subscribe for [...]
