For whatever reason most Chinese android phones, (not HTC though), have disabled the ability to add a Google account. From playing with numerous Note IIs in the shops here, it is no exception. My mistaken purchase of a Samsung Sch-i809 has taught me that I can't do without Google -no Play, proper Gmail app, Calendars, properly synced maps, and all my paid for apps no longer work as it can't connect to Google's license server. I am trying to develop some android apps using google maps android api 2. But it seems that it is using google play service and most chinese android phones (including knock-off one) don't even have google play. Can I use google maps in my app if the app is going to be deployed in china ?

Gmail Notifier?? 20 weeks 5 days ago

Is there a way on the Note 2 to get the Gmail app to show how many new messages I have, just like the stock SMS app? I only came across one app that claims to do this, but it's a paid app. I'm also not sure how well it will work on the Note 2.

I'm surprised the Android Gmail app doesn't have this feature, because the updated Gmail app for IOS does.

Samsung is going to release a special version of the Galaxy Note II for China. In the picture above you see a Galaxy Note II with three slots, two of which are going to be for SIM cards and the other for a microSD.
