I have two scanners attached to my computer, a Brother MFC-8500 and an HP Photosmart C4210. I was using gscan2pdf with the HP and accidentally set it to scan "all" pages instead of just one from the flatbed. A known issue caused the scanner to continuously scan with no way of stopping it.
I decided to try the 64 bit version of 12.04
I have gone through the driver install procedures that have worked for the 32 bit OS but can't seem to find the reason why Xsane and Simple scan don't see my scanner.
The scanner is a Brother MFC3220C.
sane-find-scanner seems to find the device:
Code:
paul@paul-P5K-SE:~$ sane-find-scanner
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect
Hi,
I am using Ubuntu 9.10
I have the above all in one printer
The printer seems fine, but I cannot get the scanner to work.
I have installed drivers and read and read and read and tried everything I can find.
brsaneconfig2 -q shows up the scanner
Xsane shows the scanner to choose, but after it sits there for a minute, I get:
Hello - Xsane is supposed to support the Canon lide 35 scanner. It does recognise it. But when trying to preview the scan, it returns the infamous "invalid argument" error. Has anybody solved this problem without buying a hp scanner ?
Ubuntu 11.1 (32 bit)
Brother MFC-7220
I have an old Brother all-in-one printer/scanner/fax. I have installed the printer side and it is working fine. I have installed the brscan2 for the scanner side but can not get it running.
Hello, I want to install the scanner drivers of my MFC-5440CN (NETWORK connection). brscan-key says the scanner works, but "xsane" doesn't sees it. Procedure followed: I've 64 bits arch. I've seen in bother's page it uses "brscan2".So I installed packages: sane and xsane from repos.
I have SANE and SANE-scanner installed in my Ubuntu 12.04 box. I have an Epson V500 flatbed scanner, tied by USB to my machine. On my network I also have an HP All-in-One that has scanner functionality. Both are detected by the computer as scanners. I want to always use the Epson scanner but can't find a way to tell SANE-scanner to use the (second listed) Epson scanner.
I've used Brother MFC-8860DN as a networked printer and scanner for at least two years now, but cannot scan any longer.
I've upgraded to 12.10 a few weeks back and am not sure if that is the cause of the problem.
sane-find-scanner finds no scanner
brscan-skey -l finds
MFC-8860 : brother2:net1;dev0 : 192.168.1.50 Active
not sure what to try next
So I think I know what my issue is but I thought I would get some input before I returned this. The Brother DSmobile scanner I bought is not found in xsane or simple scan. The Pentax DSmoble 600 was listed as supported on the SANE website.
