I'm actually not sure. I just adjusted the settings in the Xfce Power Manager settings under On AC -> Monitor. It started working but for the past few days it wasn't doing it properly. It'd just blank the screen and stay that way.
I am running Ubuntu 12.10 on an HP Pavilion dv9000 with the MATE DE. For some reason my screen keeps going to sleep (going blank) after 10 minutes of being idle, but I have the screen saver turned off and I have the power settings set to NEVER turn off or dim the monitor.
As the title says, I am running xubuntu 12.10 and there is seemingly no way for me to adjust power settings, as it doesn't show up in settings.
I can't suspend my laptop, I can't hibernate it, the battery indicator in the tool bar has disappeared, and I am growing very frustrated after hours of looking through forums because no one seems to have my exact issue.
I've got a problem with my network speed. I sometimes have full download speed (i.e. 5 MB/s, which is about my max. internet dl-speed) and sometimes comparable slow speed (about 0.5 MB/s). This is affects both internet and home network!
When I got slow network speed it stays that way until I 'renew' the module for my PCI network card (sudo rmmod e1000 followed by sudo modprobe e1000).
