Hi - I want to lower the brightness of my computer screen - I am running 10.04.03LTS on an HP notebook - I lower the brightness as much as possible via system>preferences>power management but I need to make it darker. Also, every time I reboot the computer, the screen resets to 100 percent brightness - which is blinding - really, you have to see it to believe it.
Ok, now I know there have been similar problems posted around either here or in general around the internet but none of them seem to really have a good answer, so I figured I would kind of re-state my issue I have here.
What I'm using:
Ubuntu 12.04
Sony Vaio PCG 61112L (about 2 year old laptop)
nvidia graphics
Problem: My screen brightness resets to max brightness when:
start Firefox
in Google Chrome when I watch a video
Computer reboots or awakes from sleep (open the lid)
My problem is that with the recent Firefox update, everytime I start firefox my screen brightness resets to maxium.
Hi all,
So i've recently installed Kubuntu 13.04 on my Vivobook V300 and i've just noticed a strange bug with my keyboard brightness FN keys. If I use the Brightness Down button it works as expected, however if I use the Brightness Up key it seems to scroll through 3 different brightness levels before returning to the first and repeating the process.
Hi everyone, when I start my computer it starts with max brightness, I don't like it.
So in rc.local I put
Quote:
echo -n 25 >/proc/acpi/video/GFX0/LCDD/brightness
It work fine for run-level 3, but when I startx the brightness go to max again. Can I control/save brightness for X.
I use slackware64 13.1 with a Ati graphic card.

When I use the brightness changing buttons Unity changes the brightness by two levels each time to create a nice effect. However, I only have about 10 different brightness settings and so this effect has caused a reduction in brightness settings to 5.
Hello,I am starting to appreciate the efficiency of #!.However there is a little hurdle because I am not that experienced in Linux.xfce power manager does not have adjustment for default screen brightness at boot-up.When my laptop boots to #! the screen brightness is at 100%. The Fn key brightness up/brightness down works, but i migrated from Ubuntu/Mint.
Hey all. When I start up my machine, the brightness is at full intensity, but when I use the Fn keys to change it, the brightness drops way off and the screen is almost unreadable.
