http://linuxers.org – Remember the all in one application, Lernid, developed by Jono Bacon, the Ubuntu community Manager at Canonical. Lernid aims to make attending the great Ubuntu Community learning weeks easier. All Lernid fans would be happy to know that 0.6 version of Lernid has released. It has a large number of bugs fixed and tons of new features added. So, now you can enjoy the awesome Ubuntu Opportunistic Developer Week with the new Lernid. Lernid is no doubt easy to use. Open the application, select the event and you are LIVE. Its an IRC client cum browser cum terminal cum slide viewer which makes life really easy for the attendees of Ubuntu learning events. And with the new version, Lernid 0.6, learning becomes smoother. Check out its features. Lernid's Features New icon – awesome new icon, and looks smooth as silk in docky too. Nick completion – just like a normal IRC client, type in the first few letters of the nickname, hit tab and boom! there is the nick! Option for show time in class and chatroom – want to see the times? Simple. Possibility for pausing automatic browser updating – don’t like that browser updates? Sorted. NickServ authentication – now you can use your nickserv password when connecting. Question button – want to ask a question in the right format? Click the Question button and then type in your question. Job done. Gwibber support (tweet the ongoing session) – click the Event menu when a session is running and Tweet current session to share your attendance with Twitter/identi.ca/Facebook/FreindFeed etc (only works on Lucid). Install Lernid 0.6 in Lucid Lernid is available in the universe repos of Lucid. So, you can either click this link(in case of trouble, help) or run this command in the terminal to install latest version of lernid in Ubuntu 10.04, Lucid Lynx [shredder12]$ sudo apt-get install lernid Install Lernid 0.6 in Karmic or previous releases In order to install Lernid's latest version in Ubuntu 9.04, karmic koala, or previous releases, you will have to add the package archives repos of Lernid. So, either run this command in the terminal, [shredder12]$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lernid-devs/lernid-releases or open the file /etc/apt/sources.list [shredder12]$ sudo gedit  /etc/apt/sources.list and add these 2 lines in it, deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/lernid-devs/lernid-releases/ubuntu karmic main deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/lernid-devs/lernid-releases/ubuntu karmic main run the update, [shredder12]$ sudo apt-get update and now install lernid.
