I just got my Dell Vostro 2520 with Ubuntu preloaded. I know nothing about operating systems. I wanted to try something different. Now my husband is pissed. I forgot my password...or did I set one up? Anyway, I was trying to reset it. I ended up with a black screen like dos. It had a place to set system, admin, and hdd passwords. I did this but I can't get out of this black screen hell.
Hi all,
I bought a HP Pavilion G6 with Windows 8 on it about a week and a half ago, and I wanted to try to install ubuntu on the system. After much trouble, I did get ubuntu on the system and I can boot into it. However, after I log in there is no GUI and I have not been able to solve this problem.
Hi all, I've a Win7 laptop with a corrupt administrator profile: group policy client services failed the logon (password Failed). This is the only administrator profile. A guest profile is working with ok no password. I am running Ubuntu from a DVD to navigate to the Win user files.
When I try to start as admin using my password. In next screen only my wallpaper is shown nothing else even no navigation or any button. On the other hand, when I login as a guest it works fine.
I am using Ubuntu 11.10 version. Can anybody help me how to resolve this issue.
Just as the title says. Why am I required to input my user password to launch this program?
I am using 10.04 Ubuntu and this requirement does kind of annoy me.
I like making a second account that can admin the system, and my main account has the admin option disabled in the 'Users & Groups'.

In Windows there’re perhaps only a couple of important folders (by important I mean important in my logical picture of the Windows file system) in the installation drive (in my case C:\). Namely Program Files and Windows. I simply stay away from Windows folder and the “add remove program files” is good enough to handle the program files folder of Windows.
Hello !
Rotate Cube, and all visual effects was working perfectly on my desktop without any extra configuration, but none of them are working on Dell Inspiron N4050 i5
I tried Ubuntu 10.10, 12.04 LTS 64-bit .. same,Visual effects was one of the most important factors which encourage me to migrate to Linux system "Ubuntu" ..
