http://askubuntu.com – I recently installed 12.04 on my new dell laptop 3420 having 8GB RAM,intel i5,500gb HDD , nvidia 620m 1gb graphic card. Firstly i faced problem with wifi but it resolved then i loaded nvidia current drivers after this when i powered it ON ........it start showing blank screen and caps lock led keep on blinking to rectify this i have to remove the battery physically and power on and start ubuntu in recovery mode. To rectify this I uninstalled nvidia drivers but the problem(Blank screen) again persist. Now today in the morning i installed Ubuntu 11.10 from CD. but again it given the blank sc (HowTos)

I have a Dell laptop with an Nvidia Quadro 770M video card. Just installed Ubuntu 11.04, which failed to boot properly, with a black screen.

I did Ctrl-Alt-F1 to get into a terminal, killed gdm and installed the latest drivers from the nvidia website, which the installer said was successful. upon restarting, I still get a blank screen.

I am using Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit and I my laptop has got Nvidia 525M switchable graphics card. My battery was not lasting longer and had a very high and constant fan speed.

I installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my old laptop (Asus X50N). I downloaded new nVidia drivers (my video-card is nVidia 7000M) and installed it as described here. After reboot I see for 1 second login command line and then black screen with blinking cursor (I can't type anything). In safe mode I removed nvidia-current package but I still see black screen. Hi... i'm new to this forum... recently i've faced some problems given below:

1. While installing Fedora 10 in my Vaio laptop...GUI cud n't start but installing d same in text mode. 2. Since thr is a graphics card of Nvidia G210... i install that driver from Nvidia site.

I'm using the proprietary NVidia drivers for my Macbook's 9400M graphics card, and while X can start, it seems to have trouble quitting. I can startx normally, but if I kill X or quit my window manager, the screen will go entirely blank.

Hi, got a laptop booting OK on mains power but to blank, dark screen on battery. I have to open a terminal with Ctrl+alt+Fkeys and shut down, then boot again on power. Once booted, shutting off power has no effect, machine works OK. How should I troubleshoot this?

HP tx1219us, AMD Turion 64, Nvidia (driver updated).
