I've got an Acer Aspire 5750-6866 with 8gb of user upgraded memory. been running dual boot ubuntu and windows 7 for a while. the other day i start getting the hd0 out of disk error and a boot screen that is completely different than what i was getting before (purple boot screen).
Having installed Ubuntu 10.04.1 by wubi from XP I cant boot to start Ubuntu. The install app let me 2 options in windows loader. 1.- Windows Xp Professional. and 2.- Ubuntu. If I acces the frist option I get access to Windows Xp correctly but if select 2.
I installed Ubuntu using WUBI, windows installer.
It asked me to boot and while booting, it offered me to start using Ubuntu. I chose Ubuntu and a screen came saying I can go to options menu using Esc, if I entered Esc, it asks me which mode I'd like. I entered demo mode.
After I install Ubuntu 12.04 and reboot, the boot loader starts then a bunch of colors fill the screen like static. Then when i go to run windows booting from the hard drive with windows on it it tells me missing operating system.
I've Ubuntu 12.04 installed along with windows 7. After trying to update the Geforce driver on Ubuntu (already updated on windows), Ubuntu fails to boot. It will only give me a black screen and ask for log in user name and password and stays on the black screen.
I've tried to fix it from a boot repair disk, which had generated a long report and then told me that Wubi.exe is not found.
I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my PC alongside Windows 7 option. All seemed to be working fine ; I installed Chrome and Filezilla, installed updates which had downloaded during the install, rebooted, and i get the usual boot options (Launch Ubuntu, Ubuntu with Linux, memory test, and boot Windows 7 on SDB1).
I tried to install in my laptop Ubuntu 12.04 so that I can dual-boot with Windows 7. I made some mistakes during this process and I didn't manage to install Ubuntu.
But my real problem now is that I'm afraid that I also destroyed the installation of Windows 7.
I have a computer with windows 7, windows xp, and ubuntu. The problem is I can't boot xp. Whenever I try, I get a black screen. I would like to be able to boot from xp, 7, or ubuntu from grub
Here is what I have done:
1) Installed XP
2) Used gparted to shrink xp partition and installed ubuntu
3) Used gparted to shirnk xp partition and installed windows 7
So I have tried using the Windows installer twice. Same problem both times, I do not get a boot screen after restart. The computer boots directly into XP as it always has. Is there anyway to get the boot screen so I can boot Ubuntu now? Maybe I missed something?
