My dual boot Ubuntu 12.10, Win 8 computer won't boot. I have booted from a liveCD and I am attempting to install boot-repair to no avail.
I used many different iterations of the following commands, but get the same error messages each time..... In the past when I had boot issues I would just run boot-repair and it would work and fix the issue, now I can't even install boot-repair.

I had to reinstall Windows onto a dual boot system and afterward Grub quit working. I guess this is expected. The system began booting directly into Windows. Previously it was using Grub.
I tried repairing this with boot repair (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair) but it resulted in a system that won't boot at all. I think it is due to a RAID configuration that I've messed up.
I've had a dual boot of Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) on my notebook for quite a while and today when I started it I got into grub rescue instead of the regular grub menu and I couldn't boot any of my 2 operating systems.
I came onto boot-repair in the help section of ubuntu (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair).
