So I'm new to linux, but am really eager to try out Ubuntu. I have a laptop that came pre-installed with Windows 8. I partitioned my hard drive and want to install Ubuntu on the second half so that when I boot I can choose whether to boot into Ubuntu or Windows 8.
I have an HP Pavillion p6-2120 with AMD quad4 and WIN7. Before install, I disabled win boot manager and activated legacy boot in the bios. Fedora installed (used KDE live disk) successfully indicating that it had written the boot loader to the mbr. On reboot, the computer would not boot saying No disk, no boot menu and cannot boot win. I used a CD boot and was able to access fedora ok.
I'm not technical. I installed ubuntu using your wubi installer. Pressed 'finish' to restart and the windows boot manager did NOT come up. It just rebooted in windows. How do I get to this windows boot manager so I can switch operating systems? Its XP bye the way. Help please.
