I have installed apt-get using yum because I cant find php-pear on yum. I have edited the source.list and added the following lines

Just a short Tutorial today. It’s surprising how many people do not know this. To change the hostname under Linux, open a terminal window. Type the following code. sudo nano /etc/hosts and change the text to your new hostname. Changes will take effect on Restart.

I have a piece of multi-threaded software which runs at different speeds under the latest ubuntu server, redhat enterprise and centOS - all installed on the exact same server for comparison.

Ubuntu server was slowest, followed by centOS and then redhat enterprise. The difference was 10-20%.

The qtiplot in repository crashes when trying to plot any graph, so I made a packaging based on latest version.

Generally, I use 01FTP for updating and changing the website, but to be honest that is rather slow and I much prefer having all my programs to do editing available.
