Right now I'm just pondering wether I'm going to root my Samsung Galaxy S II (Virgin Mobile ). So friends give me a bit of help convice me perhaps. To root or not to root: what are the main benefits. Why should or shouldn't I root. I already know bricking the phone is a possibility, voiding the warranty another. So people what's all the fuss about rooting. Why is it so popular.
When trying to use Titanium get a failed to locate the apk file error. I also tried root explorer and when I go to the Cust folder where the cricket bloatware is located still cant delete I tried to change it to RW and it just stays in read only. Has anyone found a way to remove the bloat on the ICS root?
I have tried to install busy bos and update superuser as well still same issues.
Just received my first droid phone the other day. I reset to factory, then downloaded all of the updates from Verizon. I later read that you shouldn't root the phone if you've done all of the updates through Verizon because it'll brick the phone.
I'm new to the lingo and using ROMS. I want to use this phone to learn though.
Well thought out, through, and helpful to many. But THIS is absolutely way too much to have to go through for a root.
I am no stranger to rooting. I have owned and rooted phones of my own and other, and I am completely at a loss that there is just no other way to root this phone.
My wife loved her Dinc 1, upgraded, and now wants to pass on the phone to one of our children.
So I have a rooted Activa now, thanks guys :) And I also own Root explorer. This is my second Huawei device, coming from the Ascend previously so Root explorer was a must to remove bloatware on that device.
Only problem I'm having is that I can't find the /cust folder on this thing. Where do I go to get rid of all the metro bloatware? Can anyone help?
Whats up guys, I'm still waiting on my Verizon GS4 to arrive, and I've been doing a lot of research on some rooting and what not. I've never rooted a phone before. So I'm 100% noob. I've read that when rooted, EVERYTHING is deleted off the phone. If I decide to eventually root my GS4, all I'll want off is Verizons bloatware, and a few of the Touch Wiz doodads.
I have to give a big thanks to the guys at XDA, as they have done it again. Kennethpenn has posted a very simple way to root your HTC One X and the HTC One XL. With a few easy steps you will be on your way to enjoying the sweet rewards that come with rooting your device. Custom ROMs, no bloatware, and improved battery life just to name a few.
I've got a Verizon RAZR M running 4.1.1. I'd considered rooting early on, but decided it wasn't necessary for me. I'm happy with the stock ROM and so on, and I didn't think it was worth voiding the warranty for the advantages rooting would provide.
All I want to do is remove bloatware with titanium back up and dl a few root apps, which is the easiest method out there, I'm not looking to do recoveries or flashing roms.
