http://forums.opensuse.org – OpenSuse 11.3 with nVidia drivers. I have the screen working fine though it only runs in 1600x1200@75 using the nVidia driver (GTX260 card). When I play a game in full screen mode all seems OK but when I exit the game then I just get the mouse pointer on a black screen. There must be something present since the cursor changes as I move it, normal pointer -> hand over a link etc. It's just that black on black isn't very readable. (Distributions)

I installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my old laptop (Asus X50N). I downloaded new nVidia drivers (my video-card is nVidia 7000M) and installed it as described here. After reboot I see for 1 second login command line and then black screen with blinking cursor (I can't type anything). In safe mode I removed nvidia-current package but I still see black screen. What I should do? Thank you.

My problem:

- I can go to youtube.com on Firefox 3.5.6 OR Google Chrome 4.0.249.43 - I can play videos on the web page (like normal) - If I click the full screen button next to the volume or HD button, the screen goes black, the video plays, but the video does not expand full screen.

I run a wined version of steam (mostly because most of my steam games aren't avaible on the steam beta yet) and I had problems in the past with this black screen/dim screen but I fixed it, the problem is that whenever I try to run a game in full screen mode, the screen goes extremly dark again [can still hear sounds and see a few bright parts, especially with a lamp turned on].

Hi, im using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. I have a lot of stuff on there, from class and so on. Im quite new to Ubuntu. I wanted to play some games. I noticed a really poor performance on 3D games, and I realized the nVidia card was not being used because the driver was not installed. I have a GT540M on my laptop.

When I try to install any recent version of Ubuntu, the screen shows some green and purple mess (like analog TVs when thers no signal). Then, a black screen. I guess it keeps booting in live/install mode. But I can't see it.

hello ,,when I start games like doom 3 or quake 4 the game appears in just small part of the screen and when I close it with pkill the screen resolution stays in game resolution, I mean like 800x600 and the reset of space is just black.my video card is nvidia GeForce 9500 GT, X version is: X.Org X Server 1.12.3.901 (1.12.4 RC 1), and I use kde 4.9.0, kernel version is 3.4.9-1-ARCH

I'm using GlSurfaceView to draw my game.

Hi, everytime I play a game in fullscreen (no matter what game, assault cube, sauerbraten, supertuxkart, hedgewars) and then quit the game and want to return to my Desktop, I only see a black screen and the mouse, I can hit CTRL + ALT + DEL and ENTER which logs me off, I can hear the KDE logout sound, I cant see the menu though.

Is anyone able to help?
