I just bought an Acer Aspire 3830TG, it comes with an integrated 1.3M HD Webcam. Before buying it i tried with a bootable Lubuntu usb stick, everything worked well except for the webcam, which i thought I had to tweak.
The thing is that it seems the camera should work with no problems in ubuntu.
I have a Manhattan FUN!CAM that worked on Windows Vista with a Trust Webcam 14823 driver from Windows Update. I have the disc that came with the webcam that works with the webcam on Windwos XP. I have a question, how can I have my Manhattan FUN!CAM work on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS?
Thank you,
Sherri
I have a Dell XPS M1530 that originally came with Ubuntu (back in 2006 or so). The Webcam has always worked out of the box in Cheese, Skype, etc. I don't use it regularly, but I had tested it before. I recently tried it after upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04, and I'm getting a black screen in every application I try.
After installing some must have apps on Ubuntu 11.10, you might have missed few things e.g if you’re using webcam either on Desktop/PC using USB (or other port) or in laptop or netbook, you need to install the driver software for your webcam, because it is very likely that your webcam manufacturer doesn’t supply driver software for Linux based OS such as Ubuntu (e.g I’m using Lo
I need to troubleshoot a webcam that stopped working correctly in Ubuntu 12.04. It's always worked "out of the box" in the past so I have no idea what driver it uses.
How do I go about looking that up?
Hi, I cannot find an updated driver for a webcam Logitech Quickcam E 2500 webcam. It doesn't work with Cheese nor does it work with Skype. I'm using Lubuntu 12.04 LTS. I have tried the packages qc-usb-utils (utility programs for the QuickCam Express driver) & qc-usb-source (source for the QuickCam Express driver) without a result.
Hello!!
I have a problem with my built-in webcam. It used to be work, but around a year ago, it stopped working.
HI,
using Xubuntu 12.04.01 since a few weeks I hit now the point to activate my webcam within skype. Unfortunately the webcam is neither working within Skype or within Cheese. I only see a black frame with no content. I guess the webcam isn't detected as a video device at all.
Webcam stopped working in skype 2.2., it works in cheese, "system/preference/sound"(to turn on microphone) shows the webcam, skype "options/video devices" shows webcam- but 'test' just has a black screen. During calls, the other party sees my avatar image, I see incoming video. The blog/forum suggestions are mostly for Ubuntu 11 & 12.
