Rhythmbox is a popular audio player for Linux system that was inspired by Apple’s iTunes. Slightly the interface of this audio player is more like iTunes. The latest version is Rhytmbox 0.12.8 that includes many new features and improvements. Rhythmbox is specially designed for Gnome, but you may try to install this software on KDE.
Is Rhythmbox supposed to automatically refresh the music library? I don't see any sort of manual "refresh" option, but files that I've added since originally importing the directory never appear.
I run OpenBox instead of GNOME, so maybe there's a GNOME service used by RhythmBox that I don't have running?

I stopped using rhythmbox years ago because I thought banshee was better, now I would say as far as the 2 players go rhythmbox seems to be much less buggy, (no this isn't a which player is better thread so lets not go there) anyway I use bash scripts to control banshee after login, to get it to start in the background and play music automatically, I want to switch to rhythmbox but can't seem to fi
I have just upgraded to 12.04 and I'm not happy that the integrated music player is once again Rhythmbox. I much prefer Banshee and would prefer to have it as the default music player in the same style as it was before (i.e. Default audio application, completely integrated into sound menu, Ubuntu One integration). Also, I would like to be rid of Rhythmbox as the default.
I'm using ubuntu 12.04 with gnome-shell and "mediaplayer-extension" from https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/55/. When i hit the close button on a music player, like rhythmbox 2.9x, it hides somewhere, but it keeps playing music in the background. But if i try to do the same on another distro, when I hit the close button, rhythmbox quits instantly.
Hello,
I was having an issue with the pulseaudio-equalizer an rhythmbox, sound gets really crackly but so far only with rhythmbox, youtube sounds just fine. I tried installing the rhythmbox equalizer thinking I can just use this for now as a work around, I don't mind the extra few clicks to disable one equalizer for a short time then enable it later.
