So I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTE 64-bit using the DVD. I followed LinuxBSDos guide for dual booting Windows 7 (first installed) and Ubuntu 12.04 (second install) on 2 Separate Hard drives.
I had Windows 7 Pro installed on /dev/sda1.
From the reading I've done, it seems it's having issues mounting the encrypted files.
The guys here:
could not mount /dev/mapper/cryptswap1
Seem to be suggesting how to fix it, but I am new to Linux and have NO idea how to do any of that.
Can anyone walk me through how to edit that file?
Or should I just reinstal? Is there a way to reinstall and keep my programs?
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on a single disc which already had Windows 7 x64 on it. Windows was on two primary partitions, a very large partition C: and a small 100 mb partition. I've been using this computer for the past year with no problems.
During the installation of Ubuntu, I made four partitions: 1) /boot, 2)/(root), 3)/home and 4) SWAP.
Hi, can someone help me install a dual boot for windows 7 and ubuntu. I've installed Win7 and I've installed ubuntu and made a /boot, /home, /root, and swap partitions. The /boot is a primary partition and the rest is logical. I set the device boot loader to /boot and when I restart I get a error grub rescue message.
am i supposed to set the device boot loader to /dev/sda or sda3?
Hi guys and Happy New Year!
I haven't been here for a while, but I always found help when I needed it and today I need your counsel again.
I have 2 machines, one running Windows 7 and the other one running Windows 8 and I want to dual boot with Ubuntu on both.
The machine running Windows 7 is a Schenker P702 notebook.
I have a dual-boot laptop with four partitions - Windows, swap, Ubuntu (OS) andUbuntu /home. I need to do full disk encryption on it. Ubuntu is running 12.04, Windows is Windows 7.
i have problem with dual booting windows and ubuntu...
i had windows 7 then i installed ubuntu 12.4.
ubuntu installed side by side windows and everything worked just fine..
then i decide to install ubuntu 12.10. i didn't upgrade it from update manager .
So yesterday I finally installed ubuntu onto my main 2.2 TB HDD beside my Windows 7 Home Edition (on a different partition). I made a /, /home, swap with plenty of space (24 GB home, 8200 MB swap, and 800 GB root (which will be shrunk at some point)). I also created a 2 MB BIOS boot partition with GRub2's core.img in it.
I've added 12.04 three times now.
Triple boot on an old desktop w/ Vista(which has serious issues), 10.04LTS, and 12.04LTS.
Dual boot along side 10.04.
And, on a new laptop with Windows 7, as dual boot.
The issue I have is that the swap for the 12.04 always shows as 'unknown'.
I discovered on the dual boot with 10.04, that if I delete the 'unknown' partition, or format it to swap (even though, on
