I have noticed that a lot of individuals (particularly on YouTube) use a virtual machine to test out various different distros. My understanding of a virtual machine is that it is NOT REAL. So why do people test a distro out in a non real way?

Has anyone here installed this app called 'Device Help'?
Is it worth installing? Do these guys provide customer support for real? Coz if they solve it for real then it can be a real life saver. Or is it just another app which will take up my space and I'll never use? Please give your reviews.
