My laptop is Thinkpad E420 with Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit installed, the kernel version is 3.2.0-33-generic.
I have set the battery threshold as 60% via windows7.
The problem is that in all versions of Ubuntu i have used (11.04-12.04, i currently use 12.04 LTS) i have had a constant dilemma with my battery indicator. First off, when i start up ubuntu the indicator isn't present at the Greeter.
I recently upgraded from 10.04 to 12.04 Precise (first point release) on my laptop (an MSI machine). I've resolved several minor issues but can't figure one out and have searched hear and on google to no avail (hope I didn't miss a post somewhere).
Here is the problem I am facing:
The battery status icon in the panel:
1.
I'm using Ubuntu Precise with Gnome Shell on a Dell Latitude E6520 and I'm missing the battery status icon. When I run gnome-power-statistics then the battery info is displayed correctly so I'm sure Linux and Gnome can see the battery (So there is no ACPI problem).
Hello, I'm new to Linux (running 9.04) and this is my first time posting on these forums.
I have a bluetooth mouse connected to my laptop.
Much to my delight (I posted the suggestion!) the mouses battery is now displayed along side the laptop's battery.
Unfortunately is is named simply "battery" in the drop down and "Laptop battery" once the power statistics windows is opened.
When using my laptop exclusively on my desk I take the battery out, as recommended by Acer. Doing this causes the battery applet to un-install from the LXDE panel. On reverting to battery operation I have to manually re-install the applet.
Can Battery Monitor be forced to remain installed when no battery is present?
(laptop - Acer Aspire 1810TZ)

Martin.
I have my laptop ( Dell Inspiron 14R) on dual boot with Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7. While using windows 7, I used to get about 2.5-3 hours on battery fully charged (with my cellphone connected for 3g internet) . The battery is almost 2 years old. But in Ubuntu 12.04, I'm getting only about 1-1.5 hrs on battery.
Hi there,
My laptop LG E500 L.AP55P, going on ~5 years now, and is doing remarkably fine, apart from the battery stuff.
The battery indicator is broken most of the time. Sometimes I get the actual indication of the time remaining, but the majority of the time it reads a charge cycle, although the power is not plugged in, or states 0% battery.
