Offensive Security has announced a new release of their security based linux distribution, BackTrack Linux. Continue reading "BackTrack 4 Final Released"
At the time of this writing, 02SEP2012, the only ARM release of Backtrack 5 is the original one that came out in May of 2011. If any of you have tried running this on an Android phone or tablet, then you will have noticed that it is lacking some functionality.
You will need a rooted Galaxy S3.
When I was using backtrack, a screen popped up saying that there is an upgrade to kubuntu (inside backtrack) 12.10. I accepted it.
Subsequently, the OS became Kubuntu 12.10 generic pae instead of Ubuntu 8. something as it originally was.
Now even ever I startup, it will lead me to a GUI screen and ask me to log in.
Alternate titles: Dual-boot BackTrack 5 R3 and Windows 7 on a single hard disk drive; dual-booting Windows 7 and BackTrack 5 R3.
This is the just another tutorial on BackTrack 5 published on this website.
I am using BackTrack 5 R3 Virtual Machine in VirtualBox.
Recently, when I was updating BackTrack (by using the command "apt-get update && apt-get upgrade && apt-get dist-upgrade"), I had to forcibly power off the VM. The updates were being installed at that time.
Hi,
I've recently upgraded from Backtrack 5R2 to 5R3. Ref: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/backt...acktrack-5-r3/
I'm user I done all updates from list & I've added additional tools too.
But while logging, the boot screen says, BackTrack 5R2 code name revolution tty1...
I've checked for update again. It shows me 0 to upgrade.
How to change that version info from login screen?

Hello,
I downloaded Bactrack 5 R3 , installed it via the the http://www.backtrack-linux.org/wiki/..._USB_Installer
however when I load up from the usb - it goes through everything then comes up with a black screen (with a lot of writing on it) and just says root> (like in command prompt) .
Also tried doing it via universal usb installer - still the same - absolute no go .
Any help ?
