I'm running arch linux on my box. I use the awesome window manager, which is a tiling wm, but allows floating windows too.
The arch linux awesome wiki tells me to put the following in my awesome rc.lua too make youtube's fullscreen be floating by default:
{ rule = { instance = "plugin-container" },
properties = { floating = true } },
Yet this doesn't seem to be working.
If you want to view a youtube video in full size, without all the other stuff from youtube surrounding the video, just do the following.
Using this URL about Amazon EC2 as an example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBajLxeKqoY
Just change the URL from the above, to this:
I've managed to get YouTube Flash videos fullscreen by using two tips, but whenever I move the mouse pointer to a different screen (thereby changing the application focus) the fullscreen mode is canceled. Is there some way to ensure that only application focus changes on the same screen cancels the fullscreen mode?
I've been using Ubuntu 10.04 and Chrome Version 24.0.1312.57 for awhile now and recently YouTube videos embedded in other sites stopped working. The flash loads, but it never plays. If I click the "Watch on YouTube" button, it plays fine on YouTube's site.
It's never done this before. I think it happened after a recent Chrome update.
Any suggestions?
I have a really weird problem, when i watch a video on YouTube it is appearing like a negative, if, however, i search for the same video through Yahoo and watch it that way playing youtube through Yahoo it is normal. It happened after the update I did yesterday.
When it comes to downloading videos from Youtube, the first tool that most Linux users think of would be youtube-dl.
Whenever I go fullscreen on a youtube video, there is a moment of static, then the controls continuously jump all over the screen, and it seems like the player is trying to center the video between both monitors (I have a two monitor system).
Never had any problems watching full screen flash videos with my dual monitor setup (same hardware) in 11.10 or 10.04.
My problem:
- I can go to youtube.com on Firefox 3.5.6 OR Google Chrome 4.0.249.43
- I can play videos on the web page (like normal)
- If I click the full screen button next to the volume or HD button, the screen goes black, the video plays, but the video does not expand full screen.
I am having the same problem. Started right after a dist-upgrade that had a new version of chrome. When I try YouTube on Iceweasel, the videos are just fine. And it appears to only be a problem with YouTube videos. Videos hosted on other sites are unaffected.
