I am currently trying to backup data from my computer's hard drive to an external one while live-booting to Ubuntu from a USB, and I've encountered a bit of a problem. You see, I cannot mount my hard drives.
I am unable to mount a USB drive (or SD card) to my system without root access.
I wanted to auto-mount all the partitions in my system, (i.e. the C,D,E and F drives from windows). I used ntfs config tool to do that, but it throws me an error when I check the mount selection for my C drive, the one that has Windows installed on it.
I just built a PC and installed a small ssd for the OS and a mechanical hard drive, a Seagate, for saving files etc. on. I followed the guide at found at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/In...gANewHardDrive and chose to mount Manually as the last step. However I am unable, when the Seagate is mounted in /media/seagate to write to the disk. I am not sure what I need to change.
Hi i'm very new in the community and i'm having some problems.
I used to make a backup with rsynck in an external hard disk conected by usb.
Ubuntu stoped mounting it automatically, and i can't mount it.
Here is my fstab:
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to n
I have tried and tried and tried and finally tired of doing this.
I have bought new harddisk and installed Ubuntu in that . All file systems are mounted except one.
so again i have made new partition table. But again another partition not mounted.
so i have opened disk utility and copied error message i got while doing Mounting from There .
I am running Ubuntu 11.10 from a partitioned external hard disk with Windows 7 on my main PC internal HDD.
When I go into the Home Folder and click on System Reserved, I get the following message:
Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 1: helper failed with:
[mntent]: line 1 in /etc/fstab is bad
[mntent]: line 2 in /etc/fstab is bad
mount: can't find /dev/sda1 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mta
Ok i am new to Ubuntu 12.04 , just transfered from windows , i have been trying many posts and following wtv they have posted but i am still unable to mount my external hard drive .
I'm having trouble with accessing a brand new hard drive. I just put it in the computer and the start of the week, replacing one that failed. Its formatted in ext4 and was working perfectly fine then yesterday when I was trying to access it (hoping to be able to back up the data) it came up with an error that read.
