For reasons unknown, OpenSUSE seems to have half a dozen different places that mention auto-update. Is there a way I can definitely, permanently, irreversibly disable auto-update so that new software will never, ever, under any circumstances, be installed?
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04. I am new at Ubuntu. The system has given me a message that says "you must check updates manually" ... "You can configure this behavior in Software Sources on the Updates tab".
But I can't find Software Sources.
Updating your system with the latest patches or updates is a must whenever you installed Ubuntu. Installing the latest updates also resolve bugs (errors), improve performance and allow your system to run smoothly.
For our openSUSE distributions, we release regularly updates to fix security issues and general bugs. As desktop user, you get notified in GNOME and KDE via the updater apps about new packages once they run (normal setup is once a day).
Good MorningI'm doing some part time work for a company who'd like me to set up a system similar to the linux repositories and also the automatic update system used by ubuntu. After some research, I think I can set up a repository system but the catch is that the files won't be debian packages but pdf files.
openSUSE is pleased to announce that the newest Milestone for the upcoming version of openSUSE 13.1. is available for testing. As early version, it is expected that this Milestone is not fully functional or very stable and we welcome bug reports and fixes for the issues.
Although openSUSE 11.2 is still two months away updated openSUSE 11.1 KDE4 Reloaded images previewing some changes are available now.
Hi,
Given 10.3 has just been discontinued, there won't be any more updates. But I can't find how to disable automatic updates... According to the manual, the applet config should offer an "automatically start updater on login" checkbox, but mine doesn't (Gnome).
I couldn't find in Yast either.
Thanks in advance.
Today I got "automatic update" notice from ubuntu 10.04 but while trying to install it, it failed with the message that requested website (something like http://security.ubuntu....) could not be found. I have never faced such issue. Why is this so and what should I do? There were updates for latest firefox etc.
