Hi!
I have the following question...
My SUSE is 11.0.
In boot.local i'm setting ACPI alarm with /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm
I've checked with /proc/driver/rtc that it's ok.
In cron i have a task that will do some job and then shutdown -h now when executed.
I'm puzzled by this one. If I'm connected to the network on a linux system everything works fine.
hope fully im posting this in the right area. ( i did a search and couldnt find a relevant topic)but anyways, i was stumbling on the interweb (its amazing how many times i start a conversation that way...), and found a script for an alarm clock script that plays a music file of your choice at a certain time everyday.
Alarm Clock is a simple alarm clock for gnome desktop, it is a good choice if you need an alarm clock, counter, and birthday reminder. At present, the latest version of Alarm Clock is 1.4.3
Install
Alarm Clock is available from the official Ubuntu repository, but it might be old.
So I spent several hours in rage, figuring out why isn't my code writing to the /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm correctly. The problem is that it doesn't return anything if the value is wrong. And finally I noticed this small
5
between the year and the day. Why isn't it counting days and years from zero for consistency, for **'s sake!
So GtkCalendar... F**k You!
I usually leave my laptop running overnight to download torrents. Because my Vaio-E laptop doesnt have a button to turn off the LCD, I use the following command to turn off the LCD:
xset dpms force off
After you hit enter, the monitor will be turned off. To turn it on, you just need to move the mouse or hit a key.

My fiance just got the SIII upgrading from the Incredible 2 and she loves it. I love it too as I no longer have to hear about the degrading performance of the I2:p.
The only complaint she has is that her work shifts are always changing and with the alarm on her old phone it would default to "only once" when you set it each time which is exactly what she needs.
